Hello,
I’m just a beginner with 3dsmax and i was wondering how to give volume (? is that word correct) to an illustrator (for the moment it’s just 2d) shape?

It depends what ‘volume’ you are trying to achieve. The simplest ways are to (a) EXTRUDE closed paths (called splines in max) to give them depth, or you can LATHE them (typically for roughly cylindrical objects such as vases, glasses, etc.) or LOFT multiple splines. Probably best to use that nice Mr Google to search for tuts on these different methods and see which suits your needs best.
