# How to see if preloader works

Hi,
Can someone please tell me how to see if the preloader actually works in my flash movie. I followed the exact directions in the kirupa tutorial and after hitting Ctrl + Enter twice, I saw the preloader come on. However, after I uploaded it to my website, the preloader no longer shows. Why doesn’t it show?

hm…it didn’t show on the web at least once for you? because once you load an SWF, MSIE (if that’s what you’re using) will load it in its cache, so the next time you try to open it in internet explorer, it’ll already be loaded since all MSIE had to do was open it from the cache. if you want to see the preloader everytime in IE, then clear your cache. if that’s not the problem, upload your fla and i’ll take a look at it.

Yeah as thor said.
Also, if your files aren’t that big, there is no need for the preloader to show.
Or, if when testing it locally on your computer you tested the actual file, but on the web you call it via loadMovie() you may need to change some targeting of your actionscript in the movie that gets loaded in because the \_root of that movie isn’t the \_root of the movie anymore.

I believe thor is right, i viewed it once and saw the preloader, then tried viewing it again, but it jumped right into the page.
so it is cached
