i searched really hard for a previous topic that would answer this question, but nothing did. i hope its not a repeat.

i am wondering how to (and if you can) hyperlink inside a dynamic text scroller. i know that what i typed didn’t make much sense so…basically if you look at the .swf that i uploaded, i want to link the words ‘[godaddy.com](http://godaddy.com)’ and ‘[ehostsource.com](http://ehostsource.com)’ to go to their respective sites in a new window. can i do this? if not, is there a way to get around it?

thanx much!

[neumenex.net/x01/domain.swf](http://neumenex.net/x01/domain.swf)

p.s. i don’t know why its so huge!![

With dynamic text boxes you need to render the text as html in the property inspector or use AS to create hypertext links.

Your fla. file was huge because the scrollbar UI component takes up lots of space in the library.

I’ve attached an example .fla for you.

Just tested the example fla I posted and it is working.:-\

So you must mean when you go ahead and do it for yourself. Try the following.

Create a dynamic text box, type some text and highlight it. Now launch the property inspector, render the text box as html. The link box below this button becomes white so you can type your link into it. Make sure that you type \<b\>http://\</b\> first then your link [www.godaddy.com](http://www.godaddy.com) for example - \<b\>[http://www.godaddy.com](http://www.godaddy.com)\</b\>.

(Just a thought, what version of Flash are you using? I’ve never used Flash 5 or lower, only MX, so I don’t no if this works with lower versions. As you posted this in the MX section I’m sure this is not the problem anyhow.)

Welcome to the board, post again if you need any more help with this.🙂

wow, i feel like such a jerk because now everything is working fine!! i didn’t even make any changes to anything in flash mx. i changed the file associations (i think thats what you call it) and had all .html and .htm extensions open up in internet explorer. now everything works. however, i am wondering if people that use aol wil have a problem seeing it? hopefully not! well, thanx for the welcome and reply, they were greatly appreciated!

ps i am using flash mx
