# I need advice. (Car issues)

I just bought a Chevy Corsica last night. I am having a huge problem with it. It keeps stalling on me. First on a back road, and next at a stop sign. it took me 2 times to get it back to start again.
I am not quiet sure why its doing this. If you have any experience with this, I would appreciate it very much.
BTW,
i might take down my web site. i just cant keep it up any more.

it’s prob your website causing the stalling…
take it down, then go for a long drive, see if it still stalls…

I’ve never heard of an automatic stalling as only a 92. Usually, stick stalls a lot, I remember when our first family car was a stick and we stalled everywhere, wasn’t much fun, but it’s fun to hear to engine crank its butt off after restarting again.
As for your problem, I’d think you should get your engine checked out.

Do you think that it could be a gas problem? because they said they put something in it to clean the engine. but i dont know.

could be a fuel filter problem, it could be a dirty gas problem, could be bad plugs, could be just a dirty fuel line…
sounds like a lack of fuel issue tho. next time it stalls, have someone pull off a sparkplug, try to start the engine while a good friend holds the sparkplug an inch or so away from the plug. if you get spark, then it’s a fuel issue…

what exactly are the extended symptoms ?
bad (fouled from sitting) gas or fuel delivery prob’s usually acts up all (most) the time, whereas if it runs great until it fails ‘out of the blue’ and then restarts as if nothing was wrong…continuing to be ok and then ‘wham’ …
planned obsolescence…
on or about the 10th year in a cars life - everything starts to fail
(usually one at a time) … and this is no joke … sry
It’s quite possible that one of the many sensors in it are _lieing_ to the main computer box and _it_ then adjusts fuel mixtures etc based upon this (mis)-info
EX’s: a faulty speed sensor tells the comp you are doing 110 when in fact you are doing 25 … fuel goes lean enough to choke out the motor OR a faulty throttle position sensor tells that you are barely above idle when you are on the frwy and it then _starves_ out
You’ll need to have the systems diagnosed (usually about $60-$80 ±) where they plug in a pda type device to a port under the dash and run the car on a treadmill and check for false readings to determine the malfunctioning unit(s)
This is your best bet because it could be a combo of misbehaving units and you’d want the heads up on all of them

do what a kid that jsut bought a 91 Tauras down my street.
if you have a warenty on the car go to a shop and have them check it out. then whatever problems you have bring it back to the place you bought it and have them fix everything you say was wrong. they should do most if not all.

I called the dealer, and he said that he is going to send me to a local station, where they will look at the car and fix it for free since i just baught it yesterday.
This sucks though, i cant drive with out worring that i will break down, i always have my cell phone, thats a good thing.

LOL!
i like the car, but i would like to drive and not worry about it stalling. I have a couple of friends that i want to go see but i really dont trust this car:(
I hope they can find whats wrong tomorrow.
The engine is Huge! and it goes really fast, it also has great pick-up. But i wont go over 80, because the car is old and i dont want to get killed. Good enough reason? 😛

The only thing that im concerned about is that when its about to stall, it makes this weird screech, like something is being dragged on the ground. And then it slowly comes to a halt.
It has to be something with the gas then.(i think)
i hope i didnt buy a lemon. if i did, its going off a cliff very soon…
i will have to check the oil to. :-\

the screech is the bum attached to your bumper and the slow stop is because the weight of the man isn’t nearly enough to stop a car by itself, so it takes time.
Also, have you tried looking backwards to see the blood stains?

A loud screech? Make sure they check the timing belt. You dont hear grinding do you? When it stalls are you at a stop, or just driving along?
