Right, now I’ve got about a million little manga sketches and doodles at home, and I wouldn’t mind actually inking some of the better ones so they look decent.
Trouble is what to do it with.
Got a couple of manga books, but since they’re all geared for the Japanese or American market, I’m having trouble finding the right bits and pieces. If I’m honest, it’s taken me a year and a half to find Bromley’s lone art supply shop.
Sooo. Question is, what’s the best thing to use and where can I get hold of it? 🙂

hi.
well, if you lived in the small boring dead town of Cardiff, you could take a jolly walk to a small art shop called “the pen and paper”. but, you dont.
so, i would recomend getting a variety of different makes of pen, and different sizes. i’ve seen some of your drawngs, very cool. i wish i could draw anatomy like that. its so clean and perfect.
anyway, i would recomend getting a 0.2 and 0.4. and maybe a 0.8 if you want nice think outlines. try some cheap ones first. the most exspensive or shiniest are not allways the best. its all up to what feels most comfortable to you.
i use “staedtler” (the first one to pernounce that correct gets a huge cookie from me. i made it myself.) “pigment liner” 0.05 (for very fine details) and 0.2 (for general stuff) and 0.4 (for the outline)
but like i said, its up to what feels most comfy. maybe if the shop has a test pen and some spair paper, use them, to see if you like it or not.

What’s the best way to ink ? Or what to do with your sketches ?

Rotring also do excellent pens. Ink is a little trickier - depends on the paper and the type of effect you want. If you’re looking for a nice clean sharp manga look, you’ll need some kind of acrylic doobrey wotsit methinks.
Staedtler is pronounced “State-ler” - it’s a silent German D. I’d like a raisin and oatmeal cookie plz. 😃

i didnt have any raisins. or outmeal. or dough. how’s clay with darker clay for you? 😃
