# Inserting a swf for use as a drop down menu

Hi.

I am a novice to Flash but I have created some drop down menus for use on a web page. My problem is that although I have saved the files I cannot insert them into the page without the stage distorting my original page layout.  
At the moment the stage is white (although I did change the preferences to transparent) and the collapsed menu is taking up as much space as the expanded version.  
Is there a way of having the stage overlap an existing image, and how can I ensure that the stage will be transparent?

think you could position over it with layers in HTML

and as for transparancy i think its a publish setting and only works on flash 6 player or has some other restriction, as far as i remember being told on a previous post that is i may be wrong…?
