> According to a super-top-secret PowerPoint presentation unearthed by the editors of a Honk Kong tech site, and labeled “Intel Confidential,” the chip giant is finally planning to jettison support for parallel ATA devices. The classified documents list AC 97 Audio and Parallel ATA as being queued for “legacy removal” in the upcoming ICH8 south bridge. Taking the place of the crusty old PATA ports will be two additional SATA ports, for a grand total of six SATA ports built into every Intel chipset.

Hm, maybe I should sell my old 80GB IDE.

I’d rather sell it and use the money earned to get a new hd 😛

The amount earned + amount saved from not buying a usb adaptor should be enough to get reasonable sata drive.

Thank god. Although it doesn’t really matter to me now I don’t use a PC much.
But AC97 audio did suck.

AC97 is like the universal cheap-as-all-hell audio solution… don’t know why they’re dropping it.

Exactly, it’s the most supported audio chip in the maket, why would they can that? 95% of user don’t need any more that that so why not save some money and improve the pricepoints of their hardware… idiots.
