# Is html5 benefical / important?

Hello Friends,

I am a designer… New to design… now I have to go through… all the old & latest updates…  
Basically human mentality not accepting new things quickly…

I am trying to learn HTML online from the tutorial…  
I have one question that is… is it necessary to learn html 5 or by just learning HTML, xhtml & css one can be good for designer.  
What you think should I learn html 5 or can jump into xhtml??

Looking for your suggestion & help…
