# Kirupa tutorial help

[LEFT]Hey all,

I’m new to flash and found the Kirupa website that I like the desgin of =)  
I’m doing the tutorial ‘ **Creating** a Simple Flash 8 Animation’ and on page 3 it tells me to change the text to ‘alpha’. I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t where I change it. Can anyone help me?

\_alpha is a property of a MovieClip, Graphic, etc. that controls the opacity level. To change it within the GUI, the text has to be converted to a symbol, then you’d choose the Alpha in the color drop down, in the property window.

That actually hasn’t helped. I still don’t have a clue…  
This is THE first time I’ve used Flash 8 so please be more specific
