Ok here is a layout I completed about 2 weeks ago ![](http://www.empathylibrary.com/EmpathyLibrary.jpg) I realize its probably too dark for some of the old monitors. My monitor is just bright as hell. I just put it up for public download at [EL](http://www.EmpathyLibrary.com) and I want to know opinions/anything i missed/suggestions. Thanks ---

well i guess i have an old monitor, but that is quite dark. but it looks eral good. I would say to put a shadow over the work that are withing the “windows”. That would add alot of realism I cant make out that the borders are made out of…but it should be brought more to the forefront. In some places the website looks as if it runs off into the backround. And that has nothing to do witht the fact that its bright…i think it just needs more contrast. But it looks excellent, really strong work ---

i have a bright monitor and it still looks really dark ---

Nice work, but it is really dark. Also, its kinda dark no for a library? Seems almost like a gothic (As in dark) site… Almost spooky, reminded me of Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride at first look 😛 ---

i like it, although i agree with the guys with it being very dark, even on my very bright lcd:) try to adjust the brightness a bit, some might not actually see it. ---

Well… I’m on a properly color calibrated CRT 😃 and it look real good to me. LCD will always display color depth improperly ☹ except for the apple monitors 😃 😉 Great design man, I don’t think it looks gothic persay, but I love the aged feel of the whole thing. Nice work. ---

well the word of the day seems to be ‘dark’ so here i go… it looks…dark…:!: actually for me its not - and im not on a mac or CRT, just an LG flatron…looks good… ---

dark kinda hard to read the text on what I guess will be buttons brickwork looks good, especially on the arch I’d remove the book lying on it’s side in front of the 3 top books, not necessary and just looks a little odd nice though, it’s a great start, few tweaks and I think you’ll be there :cool: ---

it’s pretty dark. but it’s an excellent start for sure. it’d be reeeally cool if you gave it a ton of thought and got creative with all those little boxes and areas giving them awesome animations and stuff to play with n junk… ---

It’ll be sweet with some cool haunting music and eery sound effects. Maybe some little bits of animation, like a drip, rats, bugs, wind, creaks, groans i dunno ---

Very nice man good layout. You have a lot of detail going on but it does a good job directing your eye to the parts you want to stand out. :thumb2: Is the tomb / catacomb that the books reside in a 3D render or just a photo you messed around with in PS. ---

looks a bit dark on my crt, but I really like the aged look
