# Link question

Im new at the web design and was wondering how i make links like when u go to [www.bestbuy.com](http://www.bestbuy.com) and on the left in the purple, when u mouse over it, it makes the color different and it makes it bold. i have dreamweaver MX. could someone help.

yeah, they use css styles for that.

So type in the the text that you want to be a link, and place the address on the properties box so dreamweaver recognises it as a link.

Now go to window\>css styles

click on the new style icon found on the bottom right of the palette.

Now u get a new pop up box.

Click the third option “Use css selector”  
Now from the drop down choose, hover, visited etc ( this will determine wat will happen on ech state when mouse is over)

And the second option “this document only”

Now a new box will come up, so play around with that, and that will become your rollover, or ur hover etc depending on what option u chose from the dropdown menu in the first option.

The above is wrong, but i left it there just in case you want to do simple roll-overs etc.

I just opened ur link, took a while to load so i was assuming something else :esmirk:

Well for that kind of menu they use a javascript and place the extended menu on layers.

The bad thing is, i dnt know how to do it yet, so sorry cant help there!
