# Linking A Button Tutorial Question?

Hi i have just been going through the tutorials on this site for a few weeks so i am pretty new to this. The one i am on is the Linking A Button tutorial [http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash5/buttonlink.htm](http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash5/buttonlink.htm). I have tried to follow the instructions as best i could but instead of using the button provided, i created my own and made an instance of this called **button**. What i am having trouble is that when i go to File | Publish Preview | HTML, my web page opens up with also the code error

when the page loads up and try to click on the button nothing happens.

However, if i were to go to Control | TestMovie, the same error appears but this time when i click on the button it produces the Yahoo website.

Can somebody tell me why i am getting this error even though i have already given my button an instance name and how to rectify.

I have also noticed some variations to the tutorial version flash, in particular how  
you assign a ulr, and window and variables. I can only assume that the pictures were of an earlier version of flash.
