[R]Macromedia Director has got to be the most pointless program ever.[/R] Everything it can do; flash can do better, quicker, in a smaller file size, and easier. They are saying its all about autoplay CDs and such…well that’s just bologna. Anyone have a legitimate excuse for this program? ---

lol I had to take a director course in college. i liked it, however most of my director movie consisted of flash elements that i imported (i.e. navigation, animation effects) so i do understand what you mean, but the thing is you and I probably didn’t really use it long enough to utilize the powers of director. ---

Director has: - 3D - support for bitmap manipulation (edit pixels) - video playback (real video, not Flash video which sucks) - “inks” for objects allowing for effects such as _reverse_ overlays - transitions - dynamic code evaluation from a string - dynamic framerate - ability to add a file menu to a projector - ability to control window chrome of a projector - … and a projectors placement, size, status etc. - ability to spawn separate windows (equally manipulated) from a projector - a bit more speed - a bit more power - and Xtras (pluggins) that can give you the power to do just about anything else. as well as the ability to play Flash movies within it thereby giving it all the power of Flash and THEN some. … to name a few ---

The application I’m referring to is for menu navigation and 2d animation. Those links were awesome and have shown a lot of potential - but to create a plain simple, quick interface… Flash seems better. Perhaps here in a bit it will change my mind. 😛 ---

Director is still great the CD rom media, like kiosks etc… but i do agreee that director’s language is really propriatry and i stopped learning it cause the learning curve was so great. So i’ll stick with flash =)
