Naming Expectations
2.1. Do you currently own products with any of the following version names? EXAMPLE: Windows XP Standard, Adobe 6.0 Professional, Quickbooks Basic
Select all that apply, and indicate full product names.
Essentials
Standard
Pro
Professional
Developer
Enterprise
Other

2.2. What expectations and associations do you have for products with the following version names in terms of EASE OF USE?
Select the one word that best describes your expectations Any Comments
Simple Intuitive Challenging Rewarding Complex Experts only
Essentials in two ways: first it makes you think of bare minumum, the essentials, but then it bears this connotation to being very experience oriented - or atleast specific to a complex appliation. In other words, essential to people who know what they are doing.
Standard normal application configuration
Pro gimicy naming
Professional more options than the standard so more hard to understand
Developer
Enterprise

2.3. What expectations and associations do you have for products with the following version names in terms of PERFORMANCE?
Select the one word that best describes your expectations Any Comments
Suboptimal Average Moderate Sophisticated Scalable Industrial strength
Essentials again, hard to pinpoint
Standard
Pro only slightly more than Standard - just out of expectation for the name justification.
Professional
Developer a little torn here too… depends on the product. Could be a limited version of off the wall. Can’t count on the name (Developer) to determine that.
Enterprise

2.4. What expectations and associations do you have for products with the following version names in terms of TARGET USERS?
Select the one word that best describes your expectations Any Comments
Individuals Small companies Medium companies Large companies All companies
Essentials again, hard to justify
Standard These names alone (save for enterprise) dont really seem to target business size. Capabilities maybe, but different companies, large or small differ in that area.
Pro "
Professional "
Developer "
Enterprise very corporate, for big business professionals

2.5. What expectations and associations do you have for products with the following version names in terms of PRICE/VALUE?
Select the one word that best describes your expectations Any Comments
Economical Good value Moderate Good investment Expensive
Essentials
Standard
Pro
Professional
Developer should be close to free (if not free) - I relate Developer to Learning editions as I would expect them not to be used outside of that purpose
Enterprise

one thing i like about Flash is the way there’s only one distribution of it… it would suck if mx2 came in multiple versions (i.e basic and professional… or something like that) :-\

I agree guys - there is nothing like getting one version and then finding out that you should have got the other when you want to learn something new. Not to mention all the tutorial sites - you will have to not only meet the requirement of having an uptodate copy but you have to have the right version of the uptodate software. Could be trouble!
