# Make it faster

I need 2 make this slidefuction go faster. I tryed to change the  
vel = vel\*0.2+(dest-pos)/7; but it didnt work. Any idées ?

```php
 
MovieClip.prototype.move2 = function() {
dest = _root.xnew;
pos = this._x;
vel = vel*0.2+(dest-pos)/7;
this._x += vel;
};
MovieClip.prototype.move = function() {
dest = _root.xnew;
pos = this._x;
vel = (dest-pos)/7;
this._x += vel;
dest = _root.ynew;
pos = this._y;
vel = (dest-pos)/7;
this._y += vel;
};

```

The button looks like this

```php
 
on (release) {
_root.ynew = _root.mask2._y+(-2-1)*400/2;
}

```

should i change something in button also or is it enought with the vel variable?

use tiles, medium quality and less masking

the code won’t do any noticable speedups til you are spending so much resources on animating the mc’s on stage
