# Masking dynamic text

I’m trying to put a dynamic text box inside of a movie clip, and then put a layer on top of that movie clip and mask it. But when I go to play the movie, the text just doesn’t show up at all. Can anyone help?

That’s a problem that occurs often. It seems like you can’t have text under a mask. Try breaking the text apart.

i have a lot of problems in this area too, and its been my experience that i have just avoided it at all costs…i just didnt think it was even possible to mask dynamic text boxes…but maybe im wrong…im down wit dat.

njs12345 is right. select your dynamic text and in the properties panel there is a button called “character”. Select it and i nthe panel that opens under embed font outlines select “All Characters”.
