# Masking Shine Effect

Hello,

I’m looking to imitate the effect sometimes found here: (doesn’t look like they have it at the moment) [http://www.worldofwarcraft.com](http://www.worldofwarcraft.com)  
The flash at the top of the page where their images shine.

Now I have the shine effect working to an extent. I want to be able to mask the shine effect so it only happens on a particular image. Currently it just shines the whole document.

This is gonna be kinda confusing so :

image a = .swf with the shine effect  
original = original image to be shined  
image b = background  
image c = mask trying to display only image a with the shine rather than the whole document

I had to make 2 flash documents for this because, to my knowledge, you can’t mask a mask in flash. so i just imported the flash swf into the 2nd document (image a).

I’ve tried to make a image c black everywhere but image a’s area (likewise with all white image).  
I’ve tried using original to mask the swf but that also failed.

With video work, I think I recall that white is what you want to show…havn’t worked with it in a while so I could be wrong.

If anyone know’s / can help with what I’m trying to do, I would appreciate the help if possible.
