# Menu not working when imported in another swf

I made a menu with many states buttons called menu.swf.  
I want my menu to appear with the same effects on each pages of my web site.  
Till now here is what I do :  
I make a new flash doc, let’s say for my porfolio page for example, and I import to the stage the swf called menu.swf. The menu appears perfectly, but none of the effects work.( a slider, rollover effects etc…)  
what do I do wrong again ?:h:
