Here is a very, very good article on PC gaming discussed at Microsoft Meltdown. It talks about how the next-generation consoles will NOT kill PC gaming in Windows Longhorn with the release of DirectX 10, an absolutely massive improvement upon DirectX 9. (Next-generation consoles will be running either DirectX 9 or modified versions of DirectX 9.) DirectX 10 is rebuild from the bottom.
