I’ve just read [this article](http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actionscript/detecting_mouse_direction.htm) but I don’t completely get it.

What are the first parameters of checkX and checkY? And where does Flash get oldVal newVal :look:

Could someone make things clear for me :pleased: some extra info maybe
