# Movie clip in library

In Kirupa’s “Preloader that displays Load Progress” tutorial he has the movie in the library and introduced in the time line on one frame. [http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/preloader.htm](http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/preloader.htm)

When I try to import an existing movie to the library to do this, I lose all of its funcions (ie buttons, actionscript). I want to be able to do this preloader, but it appears I can’t do it unless the movie clip is an object in the library. Any help is much appreciated.

select all the frames now right click on teh timeline and choose copy frames, press ctrl+f8 and select movie clip name it, then in the movie clips timeline right click and select paste frames now you have your preloader as a mc symbol check the code you might have to readjust it but it should work with a little weaking

Thanks Grim. I got that part to work and the movie functions properly now, but the preloader doesn’t show. It works in the tutorial, but I can’t get it to work on mine.

If anybody would like to look and help I would be greatly indebted. The .fla is 15 mb though…so your patience will be even more appreciated. Thx
