# Movie Clips as buttons

I have heard that you never need to use any other symbol in flash other than movie clips.

I have been told that a movie clip can perform exactly the same task as a button, it just requires action script?

How do i make a movie clip a button? so it has:

Up | Over | Down | Hit

???
