# Movieclip question

I am wondering if there is a way to divide a movieclip image into different squares, then fade each square so another image appears using actionscript? I want the squares to dissolve starting from the bottom of the stage and making their way up to the top. Has someone seen a tutorial for this? Thanks in advance.
