Howdy.
I have already posted this in a different section of the “Forums” but since it had little to do with the main section the whole thread got ignored. Thanks alot.

Excellent website man, although I think it would be much better if the scroller were activated by click. It may be a cool feature, but some people don’t like it… and if people don’t like it, it’s not a good website. Same goes for the mouse following. Got it? 🙂

Oh and I edited the background image so that now users with high screen resolution wouldn’t be able to notice the edges… :hr:

Well, I think the site is a good base. I sorta like the courier font used here. There are a few things of concern…
Goodies: You should make some sort of preview or sth, and also warn some how, lettin ppl know that they’ll be downloading a compressed file.
News: Make the scroller continuously scroll onPress
Design: I’d take some more time to try and add more depth to the navigation. It’s all pretty bland and static.
I’d also try to work on the transitions a tad more. They’re ok, but they aren’t smooth.
The overall typo could use some help. You don’t HAVE to use all courier, it actually ruins the site to have it used SO much. A simple secondary font would help the look.
Background is a little to busy… to many things flashing. It’s not as horrid as other sites that do it cause it’s in b/w but it’s still to busy.

Before you say i have no problem with courier, all fonts have potential for a good application (maybe except all those font microsoft publisher/powerpoint seems to default with, such as jokerman ;)) Courier works on the titles nicely, but the content gets a bit washed out, especially with all the black freckles interfering too. It could do with a more screen based font. As courier was designed primarily for paper and not screen…maybe you could consider a secondary font which was designed for screens…
otherwise listen to simplistik, everything he says seems abut right. also maybe consider a warning too for the contact button. as opening up outlook or gmail by accident is annoying. Or redesign it so you can send messages from your site, or have the option to?

that’s the biggest load of crap i’ve ever read. that’s like saying that if a CLIENT doesn’t like it then it’s not a good website. and ANYONE that deals with clients knows that they are never right.
but to say that the people on THIS website are the ‘end all-be all’ of potential web design is the stupidest thing i’ve ever heard.
the website rocks. the mouse following adds interaction. the blurred text is SICK, the way it transitions from far to near and back is SICK.
the whole thing has a fightclub, SE7EN feel to it and i love that stuff.
there were some truly stupid comments on this thread. i’m surprised most times you guys have logical things to say.
ps: is this is a portfolio site… where’s the work?

what makes the other “truly stupid comments” less valuable than yours? the only thing I can see that the reason you like it is cause it has a dark feel and you like that style… so it seems great to you. but because others gave their opinion and don’t neccessarly like that style, it’s an invalid opinion? (sorry don’t want to jack the thread)

Thank you Haam, you have just rendered the following useless: Polls, Posting in this forum, Asking people what they think, Voting, Democracy, Congress, the Republic, among other things. You just broke the internet.
Really, you’re acting as if I said that the people on this forum represent the entire people of the world. First off, it’s a portfolio. There is no client involved, so WE are the ones who get to judge whether it’s good or not, by comparing the opinions of many people who just happen to be from every corner of the globe, of different cultures, races, opinions and whatnot. We don’t all have the same opinion, so we look at what a bunch of totally different people think and then create an average. If most people here say so-and-so about the website, then you should obviously change it accordingly because if so many people here agree on the same thing, it is very likely that most other people will think the same.
That is the exact reason why this forum was created: to see what MOST people think, and disregard the opposite comments of the minority. If you only pick out the comments that you like to hear, then you are blinding and deafening yourself to the majority’s opinion. And in all democratic countries, that’s how it works: the majority wins.

i just plain dissagree.
this is ONE forum and only about 13-15 people even POST regualarly.
i’ve SEEN a lot of the portfolios around here and from THAT work i can say that NO ONE here, even me, (no matter how they team up on people) has the right to say the the kirupa forums are the last word on good design.

Before any of you continue, just thought I’d let you know that I’m not here to read your average opinion and then change my site according to what you think. No. The reason I started this at all was because I was curious about how stereotype (most of) your comments can get.
And if I find a comment useful or reasonable I do change certain objects in the site, regardless whether the person likes or dislikes the site.
