# \[MySQL\] setting up local test server?

I am a total newb and have never used MySQL before  
So I followed the [Local Apache Server Tut](http://www.kirupa.com/web/apache_php.htm)here on Kirupa  
and have had no problems testing my php/flash projects  
but I am now needing to learn to use a database and have  
d/l MySQL but I am really confused on where it should go or  
were it belongs in relation to the apache server … I mean  
does sit inside the server and does it have to be located on the  
same drive as the local server … im just really confused and I have  
been searching here and google and have yet to find any good  
info for a total newb to MySQL … any info/help or where to go for  
a good tut on getting this part of the server up and running is  
greatly appreciated 🙂
