Ok… im sure this has been asked a WHOLE bunch of times:

Can you embed HTML in flash?

I would positively LOVE to make a flash site with an HTML “frame” that I could use effects on, etc.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance! 😃

Not really… You can use HTML formatting inside dynamic text boxes, but that’s about it. Flash uses ActionScript to work its magic. 🙂

If you want to mimic frames, then that’s entirely possible with movieclips. Just set them up and give them names, then target the with dot notation. 🙂

Ok… so since I’m new… I don’t really know too much about dot notation, but Flash’s help files are excellent so I’m sure I can absorb through that.

My concern before I go through all that is: My main roadblock in site design right now is that I run a Greymatter CGI Blog on my site. Is it possible to have SOME html formatting in external text that is loaded? Mainly, I would still like people to be able to post comments to entries, as well as a guestbook setup with the same script.

Basically all I need is the ability to A HREF and then I’d be pretty much able to do whatever I wanted with this is flash. Other than that, I’m looking to be able to specify the dimensions of a text box, and possibly the ability to do tables and CSS in flash (pushing it I know)

Sorry for being stuck in 1998 here, but I’ve never written a Flash site before, and I want it to come out good… but if I have to abandon it because of it’s limitations that would be kinda depressing :\*(

If I’m understanding you right - perhaps you should go the other way around…
Shoot for an HTML site that has ‘sections’ done in flash is a way you can best get what it sounds you’re asking for.

embed your flash content in either tables or frames.

As far as links go… flash will - getUrl(“address”)
as opposed to \< ahref=“address” \>clickHere or whatever\< /a \>
