Hey guys, a friend of mine is planning to get a notebook. he has a budget of 800, and doesn’t require much power (he isn’t a hardcore gamer or graphics designer or anything). However, something able to watch dvds and play other forms of media would be good, and something worthwhile to last him 4 years or more. he’s narrowed down his search to an IBM (he doesn’t know the actual model at the moment) and the hp pavillion dv1000. however, I did a search of the forums (silly me, should’ve done so earlier) and I found out about how some people, including K-man himself, got some good deals with coupons on [fatwallet.com](http://fatwallet.com), [notebookforums.com](http://notebookforums.com) and other sites. Dell was one of those sites that worked with coupons, so I checked it out and true enough they’ve got some pretty sweet deals. However I can’t seem to figure out how to take advantage of those deals to get me a reasonably high-end notebook for 800 bucks. Is it just bad timing? the wrong season? On a similar note, is a celeron worth getting at all? Most of the cheaper dell inspirons feature celerons, but I heard that we should avoid those. Also, what would be a reasonable processor speed? I’m not experienced in notebooks, so I’m finding it weird that most of them (mainly the cheaper ones) have no more than 1.6GHz, unlike a cheap PC which would have at least a 2GHz. One last thing since I’m making this post… any advice on what features my friend should look out for? (eg minimum amt of RAM, what graphics card)
