# Nested clip actions

High guys. I’ve tried to search for an answer to my problem but haven’t had any luck. I have a clip within a clip that can properly pass variable to the main timeline. However, when I put on (rollOver) effects on the clip holding the nested clip, the nested clip losses it’s ability to pass variables to the main timeline. What’s the workaround for this?

Hi- I think we’ll probably need to see some code or a fla to diagnose this, if possible. Have you tried using \_root. to set variables on the main timeline?

I’ll post the file up later this afternoon (when I get home from work).

I used \_root. for the variables and they were bieng properly passed to the main timeline while the holder clip had no mouse over actions added to it. As sonn as the holder clip had mouse over actions added to it the variables where no longer bieng passed.

Here’s a crude example of what I mean.

[COLOR=green]Main Timeline[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=green]|[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=green]|_\>clipA (no mouse over actions)[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=green]…|[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=green]…|_\>clipB (variables bieng passed to main timeline)[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=#008000][/COLOR]  
[COLOR=#008000][/COLOR]  
[COLOR=red]Not Working [/COLOR]  
[COLOR=red](addition of mouse over actions on clipA was the only change, all other code remained identical)[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=#ff0000][/COLOR]  
[COLOR=red]Main Timeline[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=red]|[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=red]|_\>clipA (mouse over actions added)[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=red]…|[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=red]…|_\>clipB (variables no longer bieng passed to main timeline)[/COLOR]  
[COLOR=#ff0000][/COLOR]  
[COLOR=#ff0000][/COLOR]  
[COLOR=#ff0000] [/COLOR][COLOR=black]Also, the second I removed the mouse over actions from clipA, clipB was able to pass variable to the main timeline again.[/COLOR]
