# Nesting objects: A simple question

Let’s suppose we have this tiny piece of code:

```auto

var parentObj = new Object();
parentObj.childObj = new Object();

```

How do i reference the parentObj from within the childObj?  
Writing

```auto
parentObj.childObj._parent

```

doesn’t work.  
It may sound silly, but my AS knowledge is not so solid…
