maybe another simple question to u flash experts out there but believe me this is really driving me crazy at the moment!!

Im currently making a scene where on part of the screen a square starts off small , then in around 12 frames gradually gets larger (im looking for it to start about 5 x 5 px then increase to around 80 x 80 px) , iv changed it to a movie clip symbol and tried resizing in a different keyframe which looked ok until i tweened it and then it just kept the box the same size but just moved it to the point where the center of the larger one would have been.

So after that i tried having it as a movie clip and then having the square as a graphic inside the movie clip, now this seemd to work but when the box was re-sized the line size changed and is too thick as i wanted it to keep original line thickness.

To give u an idea the sort of effect im looking for is kind of like the way the screens load on the [fontsforflash.com](http://fontsforflash.com) website.

Pls help me out otherwise i may not b held responsible for what i do to my monitor!!!

Thanks 😉

so you just want to enlarge a square in 12 frames?

alrite so draw a box, and press f8 to convert it to a symbol. choose a movie clip.

then on frame 12, right click and find insert keyframe. with this frame still highlighted, draw the new size of the box.

then in the middle somehwere between frames 1 - 12 right click and clikc create tween motion.

then click play!

i hope thats what you meant…🙂

Thanks for the reply…

Iv give that a try but it still doesnt seem to be what im after. I created the box , then made a movie clip, then inserted key frame on frame 12 , re-drew the box as bigger but placed it on the same axis as the original (both are on x0 , y0).

When i create the tween and play , the smaller box just moves diagonally down the screen and then just jumps to the larger size one, rather than gradually re-sizing and staying on the same section of the movie.

Can you notic anything im doing wrong?

Thanks :cowboy:

lostinBeta gave me a great answer to this same problem - draw your square bigger than the final size (bigger than 80x80) and convert it to symbol. Then resize your box for the beginning and endign sizes and tween it. Since your box never reaches it’s original size, there’s no line distortion.

Here’s the thread if you want more:
