# Newb Question on Entering ActionScript

I am just following along in these tutorials and I got to one that requires me to enter in actionscript. I don’t want to just copy it and paste it, I want to type it all myself cause it helps me learn.

My question is: is there any way that I can just start typing up actionscript without having to use all the predefined functions and all the other stuff that is included in flash?

NM i just figured it out…you have to switch it to expert mode instead of normal mode.

there is a button in the upper right of the actionscript window that will allow you to switch to “Expert Mode”

But yeah, I don’t think I have ever used Normal mode, it gets too aggrivating for me.
