How do you find how many arrangements of 0s and 1s there are, given the number of digits?

for example, if there are to be 3 digits, there are 8 arrangements:
000
001
010
100
101
011
110
111

Ah crap - I’m doing this in school again- its all that probability shizzle… ☹

ok well I wasn’t specific enough…

my point was that it’s not simply the calculator P or C function like templarian mentioned.

I’m refering to this post:

And, I never said that permutations had to involve using factorials. Study english harder!
[whisper]I’m sorry if that’s too insulting, I usually refrain from shooting others down unless they blatantly and unjustly do so to me first.[/whisper]

Errrm… Not insulted in anyway… Don’t worry…

Plus, read your own post… You’ll know what I’m talking about.

Plus if you are having a problem figuring out a solution to such a basic question, you will have a whole lotta problems when the whole stochastic process and probability distributions systems kick in 😉

Just a reminder. Everywhere you go after this, probability is going to literally haunt you if you move ahead in a science field. Probability is quite interesting… Only thing, you’ll have to put your brains into it!

Although, I agree, mathematically solving probability questions is a major drag. Probability theory is much much better!

Loving it at college 😉

[ot]Some people are too afraid of going for a roller-coaster ride. Do you know? The probability of someone dying in some sorta freak-roller-coaster-accident is far less than someone dying while playing billiards, getting hit by a ball?

Exhibits an ironic nature doesn’t it 😛
