Can parseXML serve the purpose of extracting just the text (or content) from a node?

If my XML structure is:
\<one value=“1”\>
\<onePointFive\>1.5\</onePointFive\>
\<onePointSeven\>1.7\</onePointSeven\>
\</one\>
\<two value=“2”\>
\<twoPointFive\> …

I would like to get the values of 1.5 and 1.7 after having done a search for \<one value=“1”\>. Any suggestions?
