Answer you’re looking for:

There’s a font in which the character “l” (lowercase L) is a bullet, its probably one of the webdings fonts or something.

When I define a text field as password any character entered into that textfield displays as an asterisk. I would like to replace this asterisk with a bullet if possible. How can I do this? Is there a font that displays asterisks as bullets?

Got this from this tutorial… [http://www.oman3d.com/tutorials/flash/password\_bc/](http://www.oman3d.com/tutorials/flash/password_bc/)

> The only one that you will have to change for this tutorial is the _password_ option, simply set this to _true_ to make the text typed in the box appear as stars instead of the actual letters.

But this requires you to input a component text feild

There’s no need to use a component text field as you can set the Textfield.password property to “true”.

It’s not a practical idea unless the password is composed of only lowercase L characters.

You’re on the right track though…just create a font consisting entirely of bullets and embed that into your textfield. To give you an idea of how it works, I’ve created a simple TTF file that’s embedded into an input textfield in the example fla. The font itself is only 2kb in size so it doesn’t add much to the SWF.

The attached zip contains the TTF, FLA (Flash 8 format) and SWF files.

To test it, the password is _kirupa_
