If I program a password field in flash using the tutorial on this site, would it be possible to obtain the password by sticking the swf into a decompiler? It seems like it would.

Well I pretty sure it is! I don’t know much about decompilers but I know that these password are very unsecure!
I would use php via mysql!

I don’t know if this was the tutorial you were talking about:

but it uses PHP and MySQL. If you have just an input field and the password in Flash, then yes, a decompiler can rip out the actionscripts.
