# PHP or ASP?!

I want to learn a programming language which can be used with Flash MX. I.e. I wan’t to make hi-score lists in my games and ‘fill-out forms’ for my web-sites.  
What is the best/easiest/most usefull language to use? What would you recommend me to learn?  
…and do you know any good books about it?

I would reccomend php, there are plenty tutorials on this site that will be able to help you 🙂

Im for PHP too. You’ll have access to PHP more than you will ASP. Chances are if you change servers, PHP will be provided (whereas ASP is less likely to be).

I have to say php has more pros from what I can see that asp. This however is not the case necessarily when compared to [asp.net](http://asp.net). The .Net infrastructure lets you separate the logic of the php page from the actual design. This is something that can be done in php, but not with the ease and flexibility of .net. The other pro is that .net webservices make it easy to be running both compiled (C#, [VB.net](http://VB.net), j++) executables and [asp.net](http://asp.net) webpages off of the same logic. And one change to the webservice will update both the web and compiled versions. Its quite cool when you get the hang of it, and its libraries and complete xml transfer makes it a real boost to [asp.net](http://asp.net). Not saying php isn’t still my choice just saying that .net isn’t as bad as people think.
