# Preferred languages according to standards

Which languages are preferred by web standards? I mean HTML wise. I’m writing a resume and would like to be as concise as possible about my skills, and don’t know if I should put “XHTML” or “HTML 4.01 Transitional” or something else. Which is the best to put when specifying which version of HTML?
