ei,
how do you do this kind of preloader wherein its not a straight line filing up a bar (a logo for this one)…but kind of a “wavey” thing slowly going up until the movie is loaded.

The waving is not achieved with the \_y value, it is animated within the movieclip that changes \_y. By decreasing the \_y value, you make it move up, that’s all. The waving must be done inside the movieclip, and by decreasing that movieclip’s \_y value and masking it, you will make it look like the waves are filling a shape 🙂

Here’s an example of how it works. This is the preloader I’m going to use for my future site (not with a box though, it looks better on my logo).
I’ve made the water decrease it’s \_y property that makes it look like the water is filling up the box.
