# Programs open slower after installing antivirus progs?

hey i just formatted and when i launch programs when i had no virus scanner installed, photoshop and illustrator and everything opened up faster than after i installed a virus scanner. im using norton 2006 but was using mcafee and same results with both. wondering if this is common or if theres a way to speed things up. i have a p4 2.53ghz machine with 1 gb of ram. thanks

the problem seems to stop if i disable virus scans active sheild but we cant do that cause its basically like not installing a AVS
