I am wanting to get a HD for my PS2 and i am wondering will any HD work as long as i have the software to format it?

I herd that and than i herd about some other type of hd that you could use but it wasnt from sony. what i am trying to get to is I am not going to pay $100 for FF11 just to get the hd.
