my friend was thinking about buying an e-commerce script

```php
 that has credit card processing, shopping cart, search, etc...

we were wondering how this credit card processing works? when someone makes a transaction on our website, do we still need a credit card machine to run these transactions through or does the website do it? also, do we have to pay monthly fees for processing cards? im lost please help
```
