# Questions about working with pictures

This is a newbie question…sorry in advance.

I have a graphic in jpeg format, and I want to break it up. It’s a flower and it has ten pettles. I want to break the flower and pettles into seperate layers so I can creat rollovers for them and actions, etc. I tried to break apart and distribute them to layers, but it only selected the entire flower. Is there a tool or method to select parts of a picture and move it to another layer?
