# \[rant\] the fate of all websites - big ads

I went to www.last.fm today and got temporarily blindsided by the huge background ad and matching Flash ad. I felt like I accidentally typed in the wrong site. I panicked and feverishly looked around to figure out where to go, but was impeded by the bright flashing colors and animations.

Is this the fate of all websites? Websites like [www.gametrailers.com](http://www.gametrailers.com) and [www.metacafe.com](http://www.metacafe.com) are doing the same thing. Soon many others will fall under money’s iron grip and sacrifice their users’ experience for a few extra pennies. This is such a pity. Everyone should take a tip from Google and make money through non-obtrusive ads.
