# Reducing Flash File Size?

Hello,

This is my first post here. I was reading the tutorial on reducing the Flash file size ( [http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash5/filesize.htm](http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash5/filesize.htm) ), and I reduced the size of all my photos within my .fla project as the tutorial states.

Almost all of the photos had a reduction of 4% to 20% of the original photo size, but when I exported the .fla to .swf, the .swf increased from 8.9 MB to 12.4 MB!

Can anyone shed any light as to why this would happen?
