# Reference movieclip on the stage from a custom class of the document clas s

Hi,

Is there a way I can reference a Movie clip I have on the main stage from a custom class of a document class?

in the custom class I have

```auto

parent.objectMC.x = 100

```

I get this error  
1119: Access of possibly undefined property objectMC through a reference with static type flash.display:DisplayObjectContainer.
