Hi all,
Looking for help. I would like to create a scrolling background for a web site (something that functions like the old 2d pane scroller games). Does anyone know of any books/articles that address this functionality?
Many thanks
Tony

What is the background supposed to do? I just don’t know how those games functioned that you were mentioning.

Masks. 😉

I too don’t really understand what you’re asking, include more details… but I think using a Mask is what you’re looking for.

Maybe he means like a continuously scrolling background with another background layer over it that scrolls at a slower speed?

It’s just a looped animation. If you know how to make Motion Tweens, you can do something like this in seconds.

Exactly, couple that with a mask and you’re all set. Here’s a link on masks [http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash5/masking.htm](http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash5/masking.htm)
