# Select content of layer in Photoshop CS3

Back when I started using Photoshop (version 7 I think) I got very used to a command to select the content of a given layer by Ctrl + Clicking on the layer in the Layers window. Now I’m using CS3 and this functionality is gone!

How can I select the content of a layer in CS3? Say I have a layer that just has a circle in it, and I want to (for some reason) make a copy or get the shape or something, so I (used to) Ctrl + Click the layer name and have a marquee selection of whatever shape was in that layer, so I could replicate it easily.

I know there are workarounds, but this method was really effecient and fast, I thought, is there still a way to do this?
