Without delving into WordPress and other CMS, or services like 123Form, is there anyway through PHP to take an email (since it’s a required field) and send an automated response to the provided email thanking them for their submission and when to expect a response?

The rise of WP and plugins like Contact Form 7 have effectively pushed the older sources for pre-CMS solutions way down, and I know this was possible well before CMS was ever a thing. But things like CF7 have come so ubiquitous that even most search terms steer you toward something CMS or plugin related.
