# Sending data between 2 servers

I have 2 servers, and I need one to send data to the other. Basically i need something simple, like a script running on server1 to call a script running a server2 and pass some information (a number).  
I am trying to find a solution that does not output anything on the 1st server and is fast (like, it by any chance, the2nd server is down, server 1 does not wait till it gets a timeout).  
I cannot use mysql (i have only localhost access for mysql databases on both servers).
