# Slow/Choppy Animation When Viewed Online

When I view an swf file from my hard drive, the animation is smooth and snappy (a good thing). After I publish the file and view it online (with the same computer), it is noticeably slower and choppy. I don’t know a great deal about what IE/Firefox does behind the scenes, but I can’t seem to make sense out of this. When using a basic preloader, doesn’t the entire flash file become cached, essentially storing the file onto the user’s hard drive before playback? In which case, I would think the animation would perform equally. Maybe I’m completely off-base with this, though. Could anybody tell me the cause for poor online animation and clear this issue up for me? Thanks a lot.

(The framerate is currently 30 fps, which I know is not recommended, but the higher framerate seems to compensate a bit for the slowness/choppiness…also the animations I’m using aren’t that intense)
